* Offer a prayer of thansgiving to God for leading you to faith and forgiveness in Christ and for giving you His name and His status.

Sermon: "Whose Slave Are You?"
Scripture: Romans 6:15-23

1. There is no such thing as true freedom. (Romans 6:16)

2. Slavery to sin leads to impurity and ever-increasing wickedness. (Romans 6:19)

3. Slavery to sin leads to death. (Romans 6:16, 21, 23)

4. Jesus Christ has set us free from slavery to sin. (Romans 6:18, 22)

5. Slavery to God leads to holiness and righteousness. (Romans 6:16, 18, 19, 22)

6. Slavery to God leads to eternal life. (Romans 6:22-23)

 

Next Steps

  • Do a moral inventory of your life to see if there are any habits or patterns of sin that influence or control you. Confess and repent of those things and take measures to ensure that you live every area of your life under the Lordship of Jesus.

  • Read and reflect on Psalm 63. Pray it as a prayer out loud to the Lord. 
  • Prayer a "surrender prayer" every morning, inviting the Lord Jesus to guide, control, and use you in ways that will bless others and give glory to Him.

  • Think about the nature of the sins that tempt you. What about them do you find appealing? How do you feel when you give in to temptation? If you keep giving in to temptation, will it give you what you’re looking for?
  • Memorize the good news of the gospel in Romans 5:20: “But where sin increased, grace increased all the more...”
  • Pray a prayer of thanks to God for the free gift of His grace, righteousness and justification that we have in and through Jesus Christ.
